Posted @withrepost • @make_tea_and_read Blog Tour review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's 1990s England where we are introduced to Vik an aspiring chef of Jewish- Indian heritage and Yvonne an outgoing activist and campaigner. During a heated moment they unwittingly cause an accident that leads them to flee Leeds to London. During their time in London we see their relationship together grow as well as seeing their own worlds develop, Vik in the resturant scene and Yvonne in the music scene. Throughout this novel we see the ups and downs of their relationship, the bad and the ugly and the pressures put on them both but in very different ways. Vik experiences racism first hand but choses to be the calming influence for Yvonne and her quick temper. However, during a late night in the resurant Vik is involved in a targeted racist attack by someone he knows and it turns his life up side down. This begins to change his
view on how he choses to handle situations.
After moving to New York Vik lands a top job at a new resturant in the city while Yvonne has cracked the show biz world. We see their relationship start to falter and wonder whether they can overcome the obstacles in their paths.
This novel has surprised me in many ways, it shows us the good and the bad of society and how changing times lead to both fantastic oportunities and downfalls of peoples lives. We see racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, love, hate and passion. Passion is a key theme in this book in many ways.
We see the passion between Vik and Yvonne, the passion Vik has for his cooking career, and family. Yvonne with her music and performances, her activism and campaigns against societies prejudices. We see love and hate in many ways and hope that by the end of the book they have found the path that is good to them.
The writing style of this novel is great, it flowed well and you truly felt like you were involved in these characters lives and journeys. It makes you fall into their world and want to continue on the journey with them to see where they go and where they end up.

Overall, a fantastic read that really grabs your attention that makes you keep reading.

When Allegra discovers that her husband has been having an affair with a much younger woman she feels like her world is falling apart.

After putting her life on hold to raise a family she decides that now is the time to do the things shes always wanted to do. She travels to Tuscany and falls in love in more ways than one.
Her love and passion for historical architecture and her Italian family history takes her on a journey of discovery, not only to find out the truth to an old family mystery (along with great grandma Cosimas diary) but she also discovers more about herself and who she wants to be, going forward in life. .

I love a good romance book that combines Italy, a hearty romance and a bit of mystery drama in it. This was everything you need if you love reading about Florence and need a pick me up to lift your spirits.
This is a sheer delight to read and would recommend it for anyone who loves history and Italy especially. It made me swoon and sigh so many tines, giving me nostalgia vibes when I visited Florence a couple of years ago.
This was a perfect little treat! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5
